My game is crashing every time I try and enter the Personnel section of the ship. I get to the in-game ad for Venturis Belt, and then it crashes immediately after.

The console shows this:

I'm running a AMD FX-4170 with 8GB of RAM. I have OpenSuSE 42.2 64-bit running kernel 4.4.74. My graphics card is a Nvidia 970 GTX running driver version 384.59.

It happened to me too. It looked like an out of memory error.
I was fortunate and it managed to go ahead at the third time I tried, after a lot of swapping.
After arriving in Personel section I exited and saved. So, the next time it will load directly from here.

I had the same exact problem with Quern: https://www.gog.com/forum/quern_undying_thoughts/crash_huge_memory_footprint_crash_during_ingame_loading_after_central_tower_elevator

You could try the same things. At least reducing all gfx detail before the transit.

After a couple of tests, I found that with my PC, which has 8GB as yours, when I set the graphics to "Max" it crashes quite often when loading, but with "High", it didn't crashed yet.

I'll be more skeptic when seeing recent 3D games that claims to need only 4GB of RAM as minimum and 8 as recommended, :-)

Anyway... I think that I'll buy that extra ram soon... :-/
