... since GOG changed their website design a good while ago, I see the game 'update' notifications, and I can even filter to show me which games are getting 'updates' ... but then that's that.

On the OLD GOG page, you would have seen which files or goodies were added or changed. On this 'new' design NOTHING gives you a hint of if the game itself was updated, or a patch was added or what new non-essential artwork was made available.

... and don't point me to GOG GALAXY! You don't want to be in my line of sight spitting that name.... :(
In your Library
Click on the game that has been updated.
Select more-> Changelog

Calm down, Galaxy is not required. =) Like aurlaent said, the changelog is easy to access for the games that have one (and any game that's gotten at least one update since about late spring should have one). See attachment.
