I had some troubles running the EE version of SS1, on startup during the intro or 2 sec in the menu it would crash. For me it worked when i changed the resolution back from 1024x768 to 800x600.
Yeah, higher than vanilla resolutions seem to be causing a lot of instability. I tried playing @ 1920:1080, but the game just kept crashing.
Play in 320x200 like me :o
No idea what happened, but it broke again. Now i cant get it to work whatever im trying to do.

So i got it running again, for now. This is what i did; In the .ini file; Stretch=Full, SoftRenderer=off, VideoMode=4. Then in compatibility mode, Windows XP service pack 3, Run as administrator and Disable desktop compositio.

Oh and i also closed Steam and Amd Gaming evolved.
any other rituals you performed?
any rational reasons (and reasoning) behind doing what you did? (other than i just tried everything on everythin like in a bad adventure game?)

Well did a rain dance and prayed to Zeus, but other than that no not really :P

Hope it works for you as well, i know i am very easy frustrated when things dont work as they are supposed to. and i do have a 486DX with the original on it but thats not why i bought this enhanced edition.
