So I love the first System Shock. I got the new 25th anniversary version of System Shock 2, and since the game works very similarly to System Shock, I decided to change my controls to be the same as in System Shock. I use E in SS to open and close the menu since "interact" is on the left mouse button. In this new game though, when I updated the controls to work this way, once I open the MFD menu, the controls are now reverted back to the default controls until I use Tab to close the menu. Then the settings all go back to my personal keybindings. I also went through the entire controls menu clearing EVERY single key, and replacing them with my personal preferences. The control switching issue persists. Also, it wouldn't let me change the quick save, even though I'd cleared the key of all bindings.

TL;DR I change the controls to what I want, but once I open the MFD everything is reverted back to default controls until I close the menu. Then they go back to my personal keybinds.
Ok, upon restarting the game, the issue seems to have fixed itself, as the control switching when turning the MFD on or off didn't change anymore. Not sure about if it'll let me rebind quick save or not. It's gotta be F5 dude. I don't make the rules.
I'm having the same issue with the controls reverting to default when I open the MFD, then returning to my bindings once I close it. Furthermore, I found out that it happens every time I change the bindings in the options menu, i.e., if I close the game then restart it, the issue disappears, but if I then change any keybinds, the problem occurs again, and only disappears if I leave the game and restart it.

No big deal, I can just exit the game and restart again every time I change my bindings (which won't happen often, as I'm quite satisfied with them), but the bug is there.

Oh, and I was able to rebind the quicksave and quickload, but not to the function keys (f5 and f9 respectively). Again, no biggie, but I agree with Jedilink: this must be breaking some law somewhere, and it would be much appreciated if it got fixed so we can restore the natural ways of the universe and use f5 and f9 to save and load.

Worth noting - you can access more control bindings in the file C:\Users\WhoeverYouAre\Saved Games\Nightdive Studios\System Shock 2 Remastered\user.bnd. I went hunting around for some such thing to see if there was a way to have crouching be hold rather than toggle, and sure enough there are a few bindings that aren't listed in the control options, such as +crouchhold. You should even be able to rebind F5 and F9 to save/load, thus restoring the ancient order for which you hanker so longingly.

Hey, that's good info to know! Perusing that file, I decided not to rebind the quicksave and quickload keys (having already grown used to my current bindings), but I found out about the "quickbind" and "quickuse" functions. That's handy info to know, and there's tons of other info in that file as well. So thanks again for pointing it out!
