Today I played all the way to the Biomass level. I died and naturally I reached for the Quick Load key, but on accident I pressed Quick Save. So now when I try to load it, it goes in-game for a split second and kicks me to the title screen. I have a backup save, but its all the way on the recreation part of the game, and I really don't want to redo all that shit.

I think it autosaves on the beginning of every 'level', just look if there doesn't happen to be an autosave on top of the saves list.
that got overwritten when he saved and loaded that dead save. he will have to load his last "hard" save, whether he liikes it or not.

Oh well, nothing to be done then. Every game ever created needs to use an automatically rotating multiple-quicksave system to leave some of our sanity intact.
yeah, the last slot is not really an "autosave slot" you see - it's more like a "latest save slot" really. and if your latest save happens to break.. well, out of luck.

that's why you should make "hard" saves at least on the beginning of each level.
This is why you don't remap your quicksave and quickload keys to be right next to each other. Nobody ever accidentally hit Alt-S when reaching for Alt-L.

Damnit. Alright thanks for the help either way. I really need to rebind my keys.
