It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

The shortcut that the installer gives me isn't launching correctly. It starts "start.exe" but "shock2.exe" never starts.

However, if I launch shock2.exe directly, it starts up.

Is there any reason I need start.exe? Is it not going to run correctly beyond the title screen without it?

there is no need to use start exe. no idea why it's there - probably some GOG standard addition.
It's a compiled AutoHotKey script, probably a workaround. It checks if there is a process called chrome.exe, if there is, it starts SS2, waits for 0.3 seconds, then kills it and starts a new instance. If there is no process called chrome.exe, it checks if SS2 is already running, if it is, it kills it and starts a new instance.
Interesting, I guess that kinda answers my question from the other thread. That seems odd that you say it checks for chrome.exe. Do you think it has a problem if launched while the browser is open?

I am playing it right now with chrome open, not sure what is going on with your install.

JetGumRadio: Do you run Comodo Firewall? It kept blocking start.exe and crashing shock2.exe until I allowed it to run.
No. I don't. I've watched the Task Manager, though. shock2.exe never starts.

I also redownloaded and reinstalled to no avail.
check the sticky, maybe you are running from program files or another protected place.

C:\GOG Games\
I would just keep using shock2.exe if that's working for you.

Yeah, I am too. Was just speculating on drennan's claim that it checks for chrome.exe. To be clear, I'm not actually having any issues running the desktop shortcut (like the TS), just curious about start.exe.
