My laptop has the following:

Genuine Intel CPU T2130 @ 1.86GHz
2,7GB RAM
SiS Mirage 3 Graphics card

Do you think I can run SS2 smoothly? Especially with the mods that improve the graphics?

I've been waiting for a sale, but I really want to play it, never the less, if anyone knows that the game won't work, I'll wait for a sale.

Thank you.

from what I've been able to learn about the video chip it seems to be roughly equivalent to the gma950, which I have in my netbook. I was able to play the game smoothly on that, so you should be able to as well...

I think it'll run well enough for you, but ultimately the only way to know for sure is to give it a shot
why don't you download the demo and find out?

I had forgot about the demo.

I find SiS very inconsistent, it can't play most games, especially modern ones, and yet I can play Aliens versus Predators 2000, Unreal Tournament, The Longest Journey, but it can not play Quake 3 engine games, and even Quake 2 was slow. Hence why I asked.

I'll try the demo and let people know, in case someone else has the same graphics card.
I'm trying the demo, at first everything was ok, until the gameplay started, then the textures were all weird, I couldn't see half the scenery.

-------------------------------

I made sure the demo was only using CPU 0, and that appeared to make a significant improvement, although some textures, namely the machine where you buy items in on of the training areas, appeared all white.

Do you think with the gog tweaks and the mod patches it will work fine?

the demo uses the same engine as the GOG release. try using the dx6 safemode - open cam_ext.cfg with notepad, and change

use_d3d_display
into

;use_d3d_display
and try to run the demo again.

also, make sure you are using the latest drivers for your graphics card - if quake3 and other opengl games don't work properly, there is a good chance you are using the default xp driver, which is utter crap. the latest version seems to be SiS Mirage 3 6.14.10.3930 driver, google for it.

cam_ext.cfg change is almost at the top right?
I'm using the latest graphics driver for SiS.
Where cna I change the xp driver you mentioned?
yes, it's at the top. if you are using the latest driver, changing it would probably accomplish nothing. try the safemode.

It didn't. The version of SS2 that GOG is distributing already knows how to deal with multiple CPUs.
no chance in improving the graphics, but in case he has an AMD cpu, win xp, and the AMD cpu driver is NOT installed, this can actually fix issues with uneven framerates.
Well, he says in the first post that he has an Intel CPU, so...
I should really sleep more.
