PC with Pentium, 8 GB Ram, Windows 10 and Radeon 6770 and the game works beautifully. I also installed that text patch and changed the auto-disable of E (free look). I still haven't settled on which setting is best for E, it seems that regardless of the setting it breaks the games immersion a little when you toggle between them. But I can't see any other way of implementing it to be honest.
Running on Windows 10 64-bit. Works perfectly.

I had this game for the mac back in the day but couldn't get into it due to the poor controls. Mouselook and higher resolutions make a world of difference it seems because I'm enjoying this game immensely now.
for me system shock 2 is one of the best games ever but i have never played system 1 because of the clunky controls

so iam a first time player :D

as long you arent a grafic-whore the enhanced edition is awesome ... i fixed the elevator and finished lvl 2 now

the game is really addictive and a blast to play ... you really dont get this kind of experience nowadays
(maybe with bioshock 1+2 ... but even then there are some features missing or made more casual)

i totally recomend system shock 1 (enhanced edition) ... totally sick how far ahead of its time this game was ... its still unique

like i said ... if you are in this kind of gameplay and arent a grafic-whore the enhanced edition is a MUST PLAY because it improves the right stuff so that the game is enjoyable for years to come

AdmiralBarrett: This "Enhanced Edition" is probably one of the most finicky mods I have ever dealt with. It is clear that there was NOT enough testing prior to release. Here has been my experience:

Windows XP 32 bit: Installs and runs normally. MIDI emulation is mangled.
Windows Vista 32 Bit: Same as Win XP.
Windows 7 64 Bit: Crashes on startup. No further tests as of this time.
Windows 8.x: I have no computers running this OS.
Windows 10: Crashes on Startup. Runs perfectly after disabling the joystick in the CFG file.

Beyond the resolution patch and cleaner text, I see no real reason for this to really be called an "enhanced" product. Were it not for the fact that the original is tacked on for free, I would have felt cheated. Contacting support is useless because all they will do is hash out the "start in safe mode" BS.

I am rather disappointed with this product. At least the original works perfectly. :)

IronArcturus: Will it run on Win7 if the joystick is disabled in the game?
I tried it on two separate Win7 machines, both 64-bit. On one, which is an older gaming rig with a 1st gen I5 processor and a Geforce 360M card, nothing would make it work. On the rig with a craptastic Celeron processor and integrated everything, it ran perfectly with zero problems. I can only conclude that the code for the "enhanced" edition is REALLY picky about the drivers on the computer that runs it. All it does is reaffirm my conclusion that the Developer should have spent more time beta testing it on their dime than lulling consumers into a false sense of security.

Again...at least the original is bundled into the deal.
Loading up the game, watches the intro aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand it stops working. *facedesk*
There goes my plan for a System Shock marathon
Ran briefly on Windows 7 without issue. I didn't play around for too long, but what I saw seemed great. I had tried SSP before and couldn't get past some of the clunkyness at higher resolutions. The EE seemed much smoother. It's definitely not as big of an overhaul as other game's EEs are. But it is an improvement in my eyes, and now available from one of my favorite digital distribution sites.

On a side note, is it telling that the the OP is only responding to bad responses? Was this a rant thread in disguise?
Runs perfectly well on Win 10 pro, looks awesome and I'm so happy to play this before running on SS2 :D
