Hi, just thought this might be useful.

For some strange reason I was getting BSOD when trying to launch the game. Every time. Pretty annoying if you ask me.
My specs: Win7 64bit, i5 2500K, 16GB RAM, Geforce 750ti, Creative X-Fi . Updated/reinstalled every driver, reinstalled the game numerous times, .... still nothing - BSOD every time, while every other game runs just fine.

If you have similar specs and you encounter BSOD mentioning DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL pointing to ha20x2k.sys , this might help you. After a bit of googling, turned out this is not hardware problem, but it's directly related to bug in Creative drivers which they haven't bothered to fix for years (THANKS!!)

HOW TO FIX IT:
1) head to your SS2 directory (ie. where you installed the game)
2) open file cam_ext.cfg in Notepad/PSPad/etc. to edit it (make sure you ran SSTools after you installed the game)
3) locate "sound options" section and you should see this line there:

;snd_oal_device Generic Software

remove the semicolon at the start of the line (this uncomments the line). If the line is not there, add it (without the semicolon of course)

4) Save and exit Notepad
5) Launch the SS2 game and enjoy :-)
