Man I really loved System Shock 2, and Prey, Deus Ex. I love this style of game. What was the genre they said this was? First person roguelike?

I'm concerned this game is not ready for launch. A few months away ain't much. Half my time spent in the demo was bliss. The other half I noticed purposeless areas and combined with some of the pixelation, lack of something as basic as a flashlight and some other things. I really liked how tight the pistol felt, not to mention the other weapons. Pipe combat could be a little better, it's kind of 1 dimensional.

I know, some of you may say that's okay, this is 1:1 remake. I never played the first. Hey if the veterans happen to like it I probably will too. I'm not going to preorder this game though, I'll see what happens. It's incubation period is a bit troubling, as is Tencent's acquisition of SS3.

All these factors make me worry about it's quality at launch. I really wish the best to it.

So, one other thing was you could middle click items from your inventory to "quick" place them into your hotbar. Can't do that here. There isn't a way to disarm proximity mines that I can see, and I don't think I was able to shoot them.

The AI is very limited. I think I might be okay with that.

I'm more concerned with lot's of empty space with no useful items. There's sort of a "secret" area that leads you to a dead end looking into the room where you collect the audio log about shodan's virus testing. On the way back you encounter enemies and I'm not sure if I missed an item or underappreciated an item I picked up.

It looks like it's going to be very close to the original game. After playing the demo I went back and played through several levels of the Enhanced Edition. The odd layout of the levels it just how it was done back then.

You do get light source options in the original game but they don't come till several hours in. One is an augment that services as a flashlight. There's a second one, I haven't come across yet in several hours of play, that is night vision. Then there are some meds you can take that allow you to see in the dark.

That all said the original game isn't as dark as the remake demo. So something needs to be done there or they need to throw in that light augment earlier.

Thankfully the cyberspace portions of the game are a lot easier to control than the original. I remember them being horrible back then and that hasn't changed replaying it.

Nobody has ever described any of those games as roguelikes. Do you even know what a roguelike is?

I think term you're looking for is "immersive sim". Personally I really dislike this term.
