That is really weird. Even though the game is only supposed to be available in English I got a Russian version. I am from Russia, yes, but I don't want to play the game in Russian as this particular translation is extremely poor. Like, super bad. The quality is similar to that of the pirated versions that flourished in the 90s, with typos, wrong sentence structures and twisted terminology.
I really want an English version. The description is wrong. And the translation is very wrong.
I bought the game at GOG instead of Steam, even though it was cheaper there, because I support GOG but that was quite disappointing for me. Maybe next time I won't.

This shouldn't happen, we'll look into it asap.
Hi Regenerator!
Thank you for your support. I'm truly very sorry to hear that. We actually went through a good amount of effort to include Russian characters (so they showed up correctly), then spent more time and resources localizing the game, to hopefully provide the best experience. It's **very** disappointing to see it actually does the opposite.

As a native French speaker, I totally understand the frustration of getting bad localization and I'm not happy I am now on the "development side" of such a problem, despite our best precautions. We will look into solutions ASAP.

Thanks for such fast replies.
GOG has sent me a modified .exe file as a workaround and now I have an English version.
Just so you know, I really like the game and I have been looking forward to it for some time and it didn't disappoint me.
Also, nice to see you trying to make sure that the game is translated in as many languages as possible - most of the big publishers tend not to do that at all.

I am also sorry - I might have been a bit too critical of the translation.
The translation is not completely hopeless, but the fonts tend to be too small sometimes and some sentences are translated in a... slightly weird way. Not incorrect in most cases, yet most people would have said that a different way.
Another problem is with the fact that Russian words, much like Polish, tend to be longer than the English ones and they don't fit - so most of the them had to be shortened. That and not the best font makes it hard sometimes to read the sentence.
The biggest problem so far are the icons - most of them are fine, its just that sometimes the tutorial refers to them in a different way from what it actually says on the icon, which may confuse people. However, some icons have had blanks or ??? written on them - I am not completely sure that this is due to the error in translation as I was still going through the tutorial at that point.
Apart from that, there are some mistakes here and there - for example sometimes there is a Latin letter in front of a word for no reason, yet in overall the game is understandable and playable.
Its just that... you know, it kind of feels worse than an English version. It really reminded me of some pirate copies - playable but the original would still be so much better.
Thanks again.

It's not displaying my Japanese tags correctly either.

Is the exe not unicode or something?

Hey MaverickRonin,
For some reason, GOG isn't showing me unread responses to my posts (arg). For the GOG version of the game, we don't have Japanese text in the font bitmap. However, we are going to try and change that in a future version...

Sorry!

Hey guys! No, we haven't forgotten about you at all... there are a couple more issues that are being resolved via the Steam betas. Speaking of which, I should ask GOG if they have that kind of feature. It would be really cool to post beta installers that you guys could download (KNOWING THE RISK :) ) and test out...

I will update the GOG version as soon as those final issues are resolved.

With the new patch there is a new problem. It won't install on my de-translated .exe.
I tried to put the original .exe and patch it but then the game was in Russian again.
I tried putting the de-translated .exe in and it looks like the game un-patched itself.
I would rather play an un-patched version rather than a Russian one but the people are saying that the patch has improved quite a lot of stuff but it looks like the language selection option is not one of them.
Also, because of that witchcraft with the .exe files I've lost all my saves. No big deal but still.
Fix please?

Hey Regenerator,
We're looking into allowing the users to change languages in game. It's not a trivial change, so if you can bear with us, that would help.

Sure thing.
Can somebody help me with changing Russian to English on Symphony ?
Any news? I feel like I'm being served by a local shitty 1ass company that tends to region lock and language lock everything it gets its dirty hands on.
