Greetings! I am playing Syberia on Win 10. Latest build with all patches. I have progressed until second chapter, but I have faced a 10/10 crash.
Upon punting the coo coo egg on the door mechanism and opening the door once I point Kate to the stairs and she starts to climb down the game crashes immediately with no error messages or anything showing the issue. I have tried different video settings, verify integrity and repair, reinstalled the game. No fix.

Any ideas?
I had this too. Also running Win 10. Latest build with all patches.

Consistently crashed when trying to play the climbing ladder animation inside the band stand.

My windows error log had the crash coming from ddraw.dll so there's probably some bad interaction with the new GOG DirectX wrapper.

As a temporary fix I got a different DirectX wrapper as referenced in the post:
"Easy Syberia 1 fix for high resolutions and no available 3d accelarator in 2024"
on this board. I would link it but I can't add a link to this post.

Just rename ddraw.dll in your Syberia folder to something like ddraw.dll.bak, download the ddraw.dll linked in the above post and place it in your Syberia folder.

Once down the ladder I switched back to the original (GOG supplied) ddraw.dll and everything continued as usual.
It worked! It worked even when I only renamed that .dll file! Thank you very much, my friend!

I have the same problem in Windows11. I found the post you mentioned but not the ddraw.dll-file that I have to copy. What am I overlooking? Thanks in advance for your answer.
Aah yes. Finding the actual downloads from a github link can be tricky.

Expand the Assets section at the bottom of the text and download the
DDrawCompat-v0.6.0.zip file. The file you need should be in there.

Try DDrawCompat-v0.3.0-win11-24h2.7z

If you can't unzip it you'll need to get a free program called 7-Zip

THIS is the latest version of DDrawCompat.
Assume you are on Windows, you have to donwload DDrawCompat-v0.6.0.zip.
Inside the zip file, you will find that DLL you need.
