The amount of times you'll hear "No point, it's locked" or "No need to go down there" is ridiculous

I must admit, Hussar, you're right on spot there. I enjoy Syberia (currently playing the 1 for the first time) but sometimes, watching Kate walk slowly towards a door and then flatly say for the xxxth time "No need to go down there" is just annoying.

Still, it's a great game, but that part is poorly designed, i think.

that part and waiting endlessly for kate to walk up and down stairs... made me almost as mad as the crate puzzles in broken sword 3 :)

Honestly, this was the reason why I waited almost 10 months before picking up Syberia I and finishing it. Truth be told, once I accepted the fact that the gameplay can be "slow" at time, I found the game more than enjoyable. I've even finished both I and II in a couple of days. So maybe a new mindset or some extra time on your hands might be just what you need. Also...one way to avoid frustration is to have a walkthrough open, so that you can always ALT-TAB when you feel the frustration setting in. It might not be "pure", but it can drive the game onward, making it even more enjoyable.
As adventure fan I think the worst offender is still Broken Sword 3. There are whole roads where you can try each door and each door is closed.

I finished Syberia I & II many months ago but when playing other adventures I seldom say ``this thing is stuck'' with the Kate tone...
