Genfrost: well i messaged support the other day and heres what i was told today.

"Hello, I understand your concerns, and we would love to release this DLC sooner, but we have very serious technical issues with it. Basically, the chain of dependencies between DLCs for this specific game means that we have to come up with the custom solution just for it, and we don't want to rush it, as we don't want our users to have any technical issues with it. I am afraid that I am unable to specify when we release it, but I can promise you that we are working on it and apologies for this delay."

Just as I expected. The installation has become a nightmare. This doesn't appear to be GOG's fault. It falls on Kerberos. If you look at the install for Pilgrim, it's basically the full install of the base game + MG + Gold + Pilgrim. Kerberos doesn't separate the DLC from the base game and GOG is faced with trying to figure out how to install Juggernaut on top of Gold Edition, when Pilgrim is not present. From what I can tell looking at the XNA files, they've got DLC artifacts embedded in core components and you cannot untangle them without the game crashing.

If I wasn't an absolute roguelike fiend, I'd probably quit the game. Unfortunately, it's one of the best commercial roguelikes I've played, and I cannot get enough.

patience...

I thought they made a bunch of posts about how they were taking Gold as the base for all expansions after that, and making the installers independent, and that this had already happened? GOG hasn't updated Pilgrim yet, so you'd need to look at code from Steam or somewhere else to see how those work.

I'm just extracting the installation file and looking at the content. Pilgrim modified the speech and music files, which are core to Gold. That's in addition to the exe change. I have no experience with the Steam version, but SOTStP is a pretty standard XNA built game. I'm able to extract Pilgrim manually using innoup and play the full game. I suppose that constitutes some violation of the EULA, but it's a hell of a lot easier for me to get it running on Linux/Wine, than running through all the installs.

Well, that's weird. But I'm pretty sure they're repackaging everything so that it's all independent after Gold. And they said that they already did it, back when it came out on Steam. GOG versions haven't changed at all meanwhile.
