Does the GOG version of SWAT 4 have proper widescreen support? (no stretched 2D interface and Hor+ FOV)
And does it have any other improvements compared to the retail version?

Here you go:
http://www.widescreengaming.net/wiki/SWAT_4
So no Hor+Fov?
high rated
You also use the follow console command, for full HD:

SETRES 1920x1080

(you need to press the ' or ~ key to open in-game console)

Imo, the problem of use 16:9 or 16:10 resolutions is that you will lose 3/4 of vertical view, since you can't change the game FOV, what is 85°, to 105°, what would be more suitable to widescreen.
Well I will stick with 1440x1080 then.
So a "fix" I figured out. Playing in windowed mode so it doesn't get all crazy stretched out. Go to

C:\SWAT 4\Content\System

Inside, there are two files ( I just did this to both, didn't see if just one worked)

Inside, search for the following:

Suppress=WindowedMode

When you find that line, delete it. Once you do that, start the game and press Alt+Enter to switch to windowed mode. This doesn't get you the resolution you wanted, but at least you see everything you're supposed to.
Need help with the SWAT 4 Gold Edition.

It runs well on my desktop computer, but somehow it has troubles with my laptop. On desktop I get a proper fullscreen mode. On laptop game runs "fullscreen" (that is, I can't see Windows interface), but the actual picture is miniaturized and surrounded by wide black field. I tried to tinker with swat4.ini, set resolution and make it read-only file, but it didn't help. Trick with windowed mode failed as well.
If I understand this correctly, then there is no way (or no real way) to play the game in a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and with the correct FOV value.
is that correct?

This mod works nicely. Copy and paste into Swat 4 folder.

https://www.moddb.com/games/swat-4/addons/swat-4-widescreen-mod-gold-edition

You can choose widescreen resolutions like 1920x1080 right in the game settings.
I know this is old, but if you go to SWAT4/content/system and go to DefSwatGUIState.ini. Scroll down around half way to "settings panel choices" look for
ScreenResolutionChoices=800x600
ScreenResolutionChoices=1024x768
ScreenResolutionChoices=1280x1024
ScreenResolutionChoices=1600x1200

just copy and paste the last line and change the 1600x1200 to what ever resolution you want. so it would look like this for 1080p

ScreenResolutionChoices=1920x1080. save the .ini file (make a backup first)
go into your setting in the game and make the changes.

That worked! Thanks bro!
It's still Vert-. I believe the only way to get Hor+ is with the "Elite Force" mod which has an FOV slider. However, it is not a vanilla experience and I did not enjoy it.

I then add dgvoodoo2 https://github.com/dege-diosg/dgVoodoo2 to the same folder containing the Swat4 Application. Set resolution to max under the DirectX tab and force vSync. I use 1080p in-game resolution to keep the game UI at a comfortable scale and the max setting in dgvoodoo2 sets the 3D rendering to 4K on my 4K TV. Dgvoodoo2 also fixes a few things as well.
Old post but thought I'd post here. I've not tested it but I've found the file at least..

Field of view (FOV)
Go to the configuration file(s) location. (example - D:\GOG\SWAT 4\Content\System) It's located in the system folder
Open SWATPawn. ini (make the game has been launched at least once).
Go to class [SwatGame. SwatPawn] .
In this section adjust line FirstPersonFOV= .
Change from 85.0 to the desired value.

Edit: Confirmed it works great.

I'm using 2560x1440p with a 110 FOV (but thats up to the player how they like it) 120 is fairly good but if you have your weapon on another officer the player aims his gun down and it was showing the back of the weapon that doesn't exist (more or less). So I did 110 and found that worked for me on this res.

Edit 2: Forgot to mention this is a full vanilla version of the game. Just edited the res like I've always done (Juandice23's comment above me tells you how to) you can also edit the fps should you be running a monitor higher than 60Hz.
