Have yet to actually start playing the game, because I keep getting an error message and crash

ERROR OPENING STRINGS.DAT

Anyone have a fix?

I assume you are talking about Swat 3 and that you are talking about the GOG.com version and not the retail CD version?

I have the exact same problem. This is from being installed and launched via GOG Galaxy.

With Swat 3 this usually happens when the proper path to the Swat 3 folder is not given in the "swat.ini" file.

The easiest way to fix this is to open the Galaxy client and find Swat 3 in your library. Look for the "More" button and select "manage installation" and then "verify/repair".
