Hello,

I'm playing Surviving Mars seen a few days, and so far I enjoy it, and I reached all the milestones except the "40% workers in workshop" one in the "easy start" settings. But how I am supposed to reach that milestone ? What does it exactly mean, that 40% of all my colonists should be assigned to one of the 3 "Workshop" buildings ? Including the children/youth ? Or just adults ?

That seems very hard to do... you need to man the factories to produce the inputs (machine parts, electronics, polymers) for the workshop, to man the farms and all the services buildings (shops, medical buildings, ...). I guess I could stop all the extractors, or at least have them operate on auto, but I didn't find a way to set an extractor to work on auto when a dome is nearby...

Any advice ?

Also is there any way to know what my current ratio is, how far from 40% I am ?

Thanks !

It IS very hard to do. It is likely the hardest Milestone/Achievement in the game. It is way easier to do with a colony that is running smoothly, with late game techs, at 500+ colonists or more than is is to do with only 100 or so. It is a balancing act, too. Probably gets harder to do/maintain with over 1000 colonists, just due to micro-management problems.

Oh, and you ARE going to need more than one of each Workshop.

There are Breakthrough combinations that make it much easier, but it will take a long time to exploit them / build them out. AI Extractors help, Biorobots might help, Nano-refining will help (so you are unlikely to run out of resources), anything that increases production per worker, or reduces wear and tear. Anything like Longevity that reduces the proportion of seniors will help. Don't let your birthrate go crazy; control it by turning off birth permissions in domes in rotation; other wise the proportion of kids will be against you.

I almost got it, with my pop pretty much stabilized around 350, but I put that game on hold and haven't been back in awhile.
