Okay, for a while I have asked for a fix, or somehow to avoid the crash. I am not sure if it was ever patched or not. Forged Alliance, about 30 to 1 hour in game, there is a crash, and I was told it is because if you do skirmish game with full opponents the game crashes. Tried 3v3 on a 4v4 map, worked fine but a 4v4 seems to crash anywhere from 20 minutes to just a little over an hour in game time. I am using windows 7. Does anyone have an solutions to this problem?

That sounds frustrating! I'm not able to provide a direct solution but maybe help narrow it down a bit. I play this a lot and I have never seen this on either a win7 or win10 machine, and I am talking games that can go over 3 hours on the 81x81 maps with 7 AI and unit caps to 1000. Slowdown does eventually happen but never had a crash like you are experiencing.

I only mention this as it may point to something else not quite OK with your PC. From what you say it seems to be crashing when you have more than a certain number of units in play, so maybe your PC is running out of memory? A possible bandaid is to lower the unit cap to allow you to play 4v4s.

Also might pay to check your CPU and GPU temps to make sure they are not overheating. Even if its newer hardware, old games like this can load down some GPUs (non optimised drivers for old games/3d effects maybe?) but they also tend to be 1 or 2 core heavy and modern multicore CPUs can overheat and throttle down with just the one or two cores being driven hard.
not sure if related to gog version but https://forum.faforever.com/topic/796/i-can-t-hear-some-of-the-audio-or-other-sound-issue-what-should-i-do/48 "wrong" audio setup crashes faf games
Anyone find a solution to the crash? Another person I play with also intermittently crashes after 1+ hour games. I tried DXVK and dsound wrappers. I tried following the PC Gaming Wiki to update GOG to the last official beta patch, but the game just drops a bunch of frames as soon as you start playing, so it's likely not a good patch. I don't think it's simple to address by the user if it's some kind of sound setup problem because I am not sure what else to disable. I have headphones and spatial sound is off. I am about to buy the game again on Steam, but I am not happy about it. Is there any chance the GOG team will address this issue? It seems like it's been around a long time. Also, I would just play FAF, which has its own fixes and might not crash, but we play LOUD mod.

Pretty much have tried almost everything I can think of, or any solution that has been mentioned.
I have played this game faily regularly for a decade, give or take, on at least 3 PCs and a mix of OS's (as has my Father) and neither of us have had this issue. Others sure, but not this specific one. I have played the Gog version for over a year now on 2 different laptops (one broke) and even less issues. Mind you I only use custom maps but my game is unmodded (at most the unreleased patch).

I cant help wonder if its a mod you guys are using?

No mods. Just the game. That is it.
I was trying to play LOUD mod. The person I play with that also crashes says that these kind of crashes happened even when the game was new and unmodded. However, after applying the last official beta patch as per the PC Gaming Wiki, frames were dropping or at least all animations were stuttering. At first, I thought this meant the patch was useless, but I was proven wrong. You also have to apply the DXVK wrapper, and it will somehow fix the stutters. You need to launch the game from a shortcut that you can create in the LOUD launcher rather than running the game from the launcher itself because the working directory may differ in a way that prevents the DXVK wrapper from loading. Also, look for the dxvk-async project rather than the original. This fix is not specific to AMD or nVidia, and it worked the same for at least one person I play with.

So, after all this time, I think I answered my own question. I was able to play multiplayer on hour or longer matches with no crashes.
