I love the original Stronghold and play through the whole game every few years. I never did much multiplayer on it. Now that the kid is old enough we like to play local multiplayer together. Stronghold would be the perfect game for this except SH1 (my personal favourite in the series) doesn't have coop multiplayer, only competitive.

We play a lot of Warcraft 2 coop which is quite fun but doesn't have near the depth of Stronghold.

Can any SH fans recommend a newer, spiritual successor to Stronghold that captures the flavour and castle management of SH1, but with optional coop multiplayer?

Thanks for all input.

The game's immediate successor, Stronghold Crusader, introduced co-op multiplayer (depending on your definition). Just have all human players play in the same team and all computer opponents in the other team.

Same goes for most other multiplayer-capable strategy games.
