Is there a fansite or soemthing else where i can download custom maps for SHC2?

I can only find the steam workshop to download some custom stuff... but with the gog version you do not have access to the steam workshop so i don't know how to get the whole stuff the steam users have access to?!
I'd propose voting with your wallet on the topic of developers buying into DRM mechanisms designed to lock you specifically out of the full product you're paying for.

i like to play Stronghold C 2 without DMR espacially without Steam but i dislike to hide of all the nice Maps, Mods and other stuffs.

For me the only reason is to wait for a steam sale, buy the game in Steam too and then to use the workshop items for my GoG Stronghold Game. This is shit :(

You can try this... not sure if it will work.

http://steamworkshopdownloader.com/

Find the mod you want on the workshop, past the URL into that site and it should allow you to download the mod as a zip, but I'm not sure where you would have to place the mods and stuff in the Crusader 2 files.

Thanks, but it doesn't work. You will get an error where this Game not allows to download some content.
I think the only way is to buy the Game on Steam also.
Steam workshop has to be the most infuriating thing ever. Let people download the freaking mods!
I have to say that the concept is good. Years ago there was something called Mod Toaster, later called CrosuS. It was used as a general launcher for games and managing mods for those games. You had to buy the games by yourself but it made the program capable to literally launch every game available and link the mods to them.
Then Steam came with the mod workshop and CrosuS slowly died...

Steam probably was the easiest way to use, not that CrosuS was hard (not at all). But you had to manually install games, with Steam you don't.

So in conclusion the world already had the perfect solution for mods... but most people didn't knew it existed and now we have Steam mod workshop which only works with games bought on Steam. Instead of improving the way people access mods they made it worse. It makes me sad thinking about it. :(
Seems to me like the only way to be rid of this cancer is to hack it. Find a way to get the files off the workshop with another downloader. Either that, or the modders themselves posting links to standalone versions of their mods.

Honestly. Why are people ok with this?
Probably because millions of people use it so they don't have to do 'technical stuff'.
