Every time I start Crusader my monitor goes black and says "input not supported". The music is playing so I know the game is starting, but I can't do anything because I can't see anything.

I know this has to do with the resolution the game is trying to use at start-up...so is there some way to change it?

I've got the same problem I can't seem to find a file anywhere, where you can change the resolution.

This happens on me with both Crusader and regular strongholdHD the old version works fine.

The selected resolution seems to be stored as binary data (as opposed to text data) in C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Stronghold Crusader\crusader.cfg at offset 0x12b. This is a Win7-64bit system.

My initial resolution was 1366x768 (my displays native max) and that location contained 1
Changing resolution in-game to 800x600 (my displays native min) changed that to 5

Try hex-editing this to 5. If you don't have a hex editor already, give HxD a try.

Thanks for the suggestion. Tried this and still getting the same results. I'm also on Win7 x64.

Have set my system resolution to 1280x1024, 1024x768 and 800x600 (each time deleting the .cfg file), in the hope it would set itself to something sensible, but still getting the black screen.

The game is running, as I can hear the sounds. Any other files where we can set the res?

Same here. But my monitor says that the frequency is not supported!
I need to change the resolution and frequency outside the game!
