I know this has been asked before, but how have you people gotten Stronghold and/or Crusader to work windowed (which program & settings for it)?

Am using WinXP Home Edition (1024x600 max res), so Virtual PC is out of question. DxWND only shows a black screen while D3Dwindower becomes unplayable after intro video, only showing the lower bit of the screen. 3Danalyze does bugger all. I'm acomputer illiterate when it comes to all these geeky options in both of those programs... Help please, window multitaskers! :D

I used Dxwnd. the most important setting is Primary buffer (IIRC its name) to force the game run in 32bit desktop.
Other options are various, depend on your PC and Dxwnd version (there are so many and it still being updated).

Didn't find an option like that, there's not even a premade Stronghold config in the lastest version for some reason. Earlier versions do?

If you've still got it installed, could you post a screenshot of your settings?
this is from Dxwnd version 2_01_100. I choose this mainly because it does not use tab so I just need to take 1 screenshot. Must have settings:
Primary Surface
Handle Exception
Optional setting:
resolution 0x0 (or true resolution of the game)
recover screen mode
Some other to make mouse work properly
I also attach a screen shot I run SHC in windowed mode. :D.
