the developers don't seem to have a forum to post this on, and I don't use steam, so I guess I will leave this here and hope for the best ....

fighting cap ships is next to impossible when "F" will only target the body of a cap ship unless turrets are prioritized as a mission goal.

strike mode is worthless vs. cap ships because holding shift and fire only focuses on the body of the ship while the turrets strip you apart; if holding shift and fire would cycle turrets before the body going into strike mode could rip a cap ship's defenses apart.
I'm pretty sure if you aim properly you can target the turrets. I've done it many times before. In fact, I have the opposite problem.

It'd be great if they showed stats for the host of whatever you're shooting at, if it has one, or even show stats for everything destroyable, ala Project Freedom. Interesting to note that Project Freedom has a big health meter for large ships with smaller ones for each of the parts.
yeah, but the Strike mode's auto aim doesn't work like that when it seems like that is the perfect situation for it.
The autoaim is based on your current target, so you'll have to target manually to get it to lock on.
pressing "F" pulls up the closest target, with objectives having priority over all other targets (like when the objective is to destroy flack turrets). however, kinda like how the game will pull up objective over regular targets, the game prioritizes the body of a cap ship over that of the cap ship's turrets. just like how you could have 15 fighters right next to you, but the game will highlight a cruiser half way across the solar system is that is your objective, you could have a turret right next to you but the game will still only target the body of the ship when you hit "F."

both Wing Commander and Freespace had systems where targeting / cycling subs systems and turrets on a cap ship had it's own command separate key from other targeting keys .... and both of those games had you fighting cap ships far less than this game does.
actually, i have found that instead of relying on your main guns, in strike mode, it's easier to kill off the cap ships by using the missile lockon. you'll be able to lock onto all the turrets at once. i've found that if you approach them from top, missile lock repeat, then work the bottom the same way, those ships don't last long at all.

hope that helps lol
Ooooh yeah... Those strike-mode missile salvos are brutal when used against capital ships. I'm pretty clumsy, but I can still easily smoke 5 or 6 turrets in one salvo.
how? I keep showering one turet with a fuck ton of missles ...

Don't hold autotarget, and move your targeting reticule around.

Joystick 3 fill focus sub-targets, including turrets, furthermore turrets and other important structures are visible, so target them manually, works anyway much faster than target cycling.
