I recently purchased Stranglehold. After installing it, I tried to run it.
I am seeing the splash screen (with the bullets), followed by the screen going all black.
After a brief moment of time, the splash screen is visible again and closes soon after.

I tried:

- compatibility modes
- removed 'fullscreen optimizations'
- installed RAD Tools & K-Lite Codec pack
- removed Intro videos
- tried the no DVD exe
- ran as administrator
- ran the localhost registry fix
- installed the game several times via galaxy
- also installed the game from the downloaded installation files
- installed as administrator

I am currently completely stripped of ideas what to try next.
So I am looking forward to your suggestions to help me getting this game to run.

I'll chime in with a "dumb" suggestion that for me solved a few windows games not booting after the splash screen (namely Unreal Gold, Shadow Warrior Classic Redux, Blood II and Shogo for instance).

Have you tried turning off DEP for non-Windows processes?

As soon as I did that those games could finally run instead of quitting after launching.
I think it also helped my copy of Outlaws crash less.

Almost forgot about this Thread...

Thanks for your advice!

Yet, for some reason, the game is working fine now and launching as intended. I tried relaunching it at some point without any changes made since the last approach...and it worked. No idea why, but well...

Maybe something else was interfering, like some driver or other that updated or something within Windows 10, in any case, glad to know you can enjoy your game.

If it ever stops booting, try turning off DEP, it could help.
this game came out in 2007, so try running it with Windows VIsta or 7 compatibility in the properties section of the .exe .

I was having trouble with a blank screen just the huds after the first cut scene in the police stn
I tried looking for fixes online and came across a youtube video that suggested going to nvidia Control Panel then to Manage 3d settings then setting anti aliasing mode/setting to Application controlled.
Not sure how this works for Amd graphics cards but could be similar, might be also why another posted that it came right one day after leaving for a while. StrangleHold works great now and this could be what works for you if your having trouble too.

Thank you, good sir! This small change finally got the game running on my Windows 10 system.

Yeah some games cannot handle the way the newer GC control panels can override them and it borks everything (Nier Automata freaks out and drops resolution on cutscenes if some AA features of the nvidia CP are allowed to override the game's own).
