The it was a pain to figure out how to get it working. Windows compatability modes will probably not work, but try them first if you haven't already.
First: you need to do is download Vmware player. It is free (for non-commercial use) software that emulates hardware so you can essentially install another OS onto your computer.
Second: get a copy of Windows XP PRO. There are plenty of places to find copies, just use google.
Third: inside vmware player's main menu click "create new virtual machine". Choose install from disk if using a windows xp disc or install from disc image image file of you downloaded a file. Follow the instructions. When vmware asks if you want to install Vmware Tools say yes!
*NOTE* if it does not ask about installing VMware Tools. Open up the virtual machine and at the top of the page click Player>Manage>install vmware tools. If the option is greyed out, go to Player>Manage>Virttual Machine Settings. Click on Floppy then click remove at the bottom of the page. Click on CD/DVD then click remove. Click Add, then click CD/DVD. Click on the new CD/DVD and choose Use Physical drive from the list at right and click ok. Now install Vmware tools.
Fourth: inside the virtual machine go to player>manage>virtual machine settings. Click options at top. Click on Shared Folders. Click add. Browse to the folder Still Life's INSTALLER and bin file are in. Choose that folder to share. Inside windows xp, go to start>my computer>network drives (shared folders). Copy and paste installer and .bin to desktop and run them.
Lastly: right click on new Still Life shortcut. Click properties. Click compatability. Check compatablity mode checkbox. Choose windows NT4.0 (service pack 5) from drop down list. Check Disable Visual Themes checkbox. Click apply then ok.
Right click Still Life>Run as...>uncheck Run this program with restricted access>click ok.
