So I download my mods from stellaris.smods.ru and install them manually (mod file in "mod" folder and the other file in the workshop folder) but with the exception of one mod (UI Overhaul 1080p) they aren't showing up in the new Paradox launcher. Anyone know what's up?

EDIT: And yes, the path when opening the mod files in notepad is correct (C:\Users\*Username*\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\workshop\content\281990\*mod folder*).

Well the mods from that site worked before the Paradox launcher came out. Any idea how where to get mods for the GOG version then, and how to get them working?

yes a lot of things stopped working after Paradox launched v2 but the path for Galaxy Stellaris doesn't have workshop i.e,
C:\Users\%username%\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\mod\your_mod
should be correct for most people and you can easy test that path by making a fake mod [see image] with the launcher

Yes the .mod file goes in the "mod" folder, but you also had the folder which contains the actual mod itself, which you needed to put into the "workshop\content\281990\" folder, you still need to do that?

Oh I see, both files need to be in the mod folder now, and the path in the .mod file needs to be the mod folder (the numbered one). Damn there really ought to be a sticky thread explaining that this is the new way to use mods in Stellaris now.... I guess not many people use the GOG version...
I think its that few mod coders are still making for Stellaris because everytime Paradox brings out a new build it breaks your mods

the % of gog players is smaller than the Steam players

Ahem, I don't see.
I have the exact same problem but I don't get your answere/solution to it. Can you explain it again?

At the moment I am desperately trying to manually install the tiny outliner mod, somehow the launcher doesn't even show mods I place into
C:/Users/xx/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/mod/

So, I place the mod file in the directory above, the actual zipped mod into its own directory (same directory name as the mod-file) and then? Nothing happens.

The mods I formally sub to at https://mods.paradoxplaza.com/games/stellaris do work and show up in above directory but this seems to be an automated process.

a mod made for Steam will point to 'workshop' to get its files because the Steam version is setup that way... the gog version doesn't have a 'workshop' and can't make one so you have to go into the mod list and change the path from workshop to mods/ your_mod so it knows where the assets are

also mods really are version locked and Paradox has gone [way] out of their way to fuck mod makers by mucking about with their file locactions in the new V2 launcher... not sure what they are thinking but the result is mods have to be re-hand coded to have any chance to work now

Thanks for the answere.
But I tried that, changed the paths in the mod file and just to be sure also in the descriptor file. No change.

I also compared the tiny-outliner-files with other working mods, looks identical after my changes and should work but it doesn't. And with "doesn't" I mean that the mod isn't even shown as existing in the launcher.

I assumed that the launcher automatically scans the /mod directory for entries but now I am not sure. Is there any need and way how to tell or rather point the launcher to a mod?

what mod are you trying to get working with which build of Gog Stellaris?

and to be clear, we are talking about Windows 10 + Galaxy install

Tiny Outliner 2.1 (probably from the same russion site Crosmando was talking above:
http://stellaris.smods.ru/archives/14224

I am running:
Stellaris 2.5.1
Win 7
GOG Galaxy 1.2.66 (the new 2.0 doesn't work under Win 7)

I've changed the mod and descriptor file to the following (and zipped the changed descriptor file into the original file again):

name="Tiny Outliner v2"
tags={
"Interface"
"Utilities"
}
archive="C:/Users/pk/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/mod/1610578060/ivam_tiny_outliner.zip"
supported_version="2.5.*"
remote_file_id="1610578060"
And thanks a lot for trying to help.

Via the paradox mod site I subbed several mods which were then automatically installed as soon as I started the launcher (via gog galaxy). Those are working, well, at least some of them. But I utterly failed at the manual install so far.

I don't see this working, given that the mod was made for 2.1 and you have 2.5* i.e, the outliner was remade since the year this mod came out... your edit should have made it appear in the launcher mod list but has anyone reported this still working in Steam version?

ussnorway: I don't see this working, given that the mod was made for 2.1...
Probably.
So don't bother. It seems that mods come and go almost on a weekly basis and I've given it up I fear, I've just lost several mods and I've got no clou why. It's a bit sad that the modder scene seems to work almost exclusevly in the Steam universe. So usually you got no info and no discussion why something functions or suddenly won't when you are running the gog-version. Would be also quite difficult since gog has no modder forum and near to none support for that... and the paradox support for stellaris mods is nearly as underwhelming (to not say sabotaging).
It certainly feels strange that one usually needs to go to the steam forum to ask for problems with mods under the gog-version. First time I regret not having bought a game at steam... as much as I despise the whole steam-concept.
