Hi Developers,

I'd really like to love your game and I think it's got so much potential for it. I'm playing on a big 4k-screen and accordingly have to scale UI. I tried lower resolutions as well but I just can't get the UI to look sharp. This includes text as well as symbols. Maybe it's just my mistake, so no offense, but I searched the internet and I don't seem to be the only one with that problem.
There seem to be mods that promise to fix the issue but installing "wild" code is no option for me security-wise.
Like this, the game ist just unplayable for me and I'm sad, because I think I could really enjoy it. It's the second time I'm making this experience since EU4. Actually I tried Stellaris, because I thought, as a more current title, the issue should be gone and I'm too humble to ask for a fix in older games. I do understand that game-developers need to make money.
Please, tell me a workaround, when I just did something wrong or didn't get something. If not, please patch this, it can't be that hard, when even modders seem to be able to do it. It's not the money in the first place, since I see the potential in your game and wouldn't have a hard time to love it, it's the head-shaking about the fact, that in the year 2021 a crisp UI in 4k in a current title should be no talking point.
This is just my humble point of view, as I said, please correct me, when it's a mistake on my side and in that case, I want to apologize upfront.

Otherwhise please just fix it.

Best regards
wizace
1. this is Gog forum and there are no devs here mate... Stellaris is a Paradox game so you really should post this 'please listen' in their forum... they will not answer you but at least it will be in the correct place ;)

2. yes it is you... a 4k screen can be set to play Stellaris and no it doesn't need a game patch for that because its your hardward that needs to be set correct and the game software already has options to adjust ui size for fine tuning
UI Scaling implemented in Stellaris is garbage. Looks like it upsizes some jpegs in MS Paint.
But seriously, I have a 1440p monitor and I had the exact same problems. Everything was either too small or too blurry.

Only fix I found is this mod over on Steam:
Apparently I am not allowed to post links (perhaps not enough reputation) so look for this mod in the Workshop: scale_ui
The id in the addressbar should be: 1906038494
And the name of the creator is currently: goondo

It's quite a bit of a hackjob, so I don't know if that's okay with your security, all the code it uses should be readable in a text editor, as it's all python it seems.

Since you probably own the game on GOG (if you have not refunded) you need to download that mod over a thirdparty site as a zip. Then you also need GIMP and a specific plugin, maybe even a specific version of GIMP (2.10.20 does it for me) and the link fo the plugin is either on the Steam workshop page or in a .txt file in the .zip. I don't remember, like I said it's a hackjob.

Next up you install GIMP, put the plugin .exe in the right folder and then run the batch file from the Workshop .zip and maybe you need to fix that too, a bit, because the guy who made that mod is a lazy bum when it comes to documentation.

And if you manage all that without despairing and the batch file runs what will happen is that it rescales all the image files in Stellaris via the GIMP plugin to fit the resolution you set beforehand (1440p, 1600p, 2160p).
And then the UI looks sharp!

But since this is such a hackjob I hope somebody found a better solution.
