It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

When I return to the game, I can still click on things and hear the sounds being triggered but the visuals are frozen.
Of course it also happens when Windows triggers a low battery warning.

I'm on Windows 10 as well but not having the issues you describe. Can you give more information on the specs of your computer? I have a dual monitor setup as well so don't know if that would affect things.

No such issue for me on Linux, only sound stops as this is the default setting, the game continues to render pretty much as always. I do have a mouse flickering issue on interactive objects and it flickers less when the game doesn't have focus, so yeah, it seems like there is some difference in rendering between the two states.
