Very interested in this title so if any early adopters could share their experience here with this version that'd be great ^^
It's 5.99$ for one of the best of its genre. Just buy it already! ;-P

Shush, I have enough of a backlog to be cautious xD
I'm interested to know how good the quality of GOG's version is myself. I got Startopia when it was new, but getting it to play nice on newer systems is a pain, so I'm considering re-buying it here if it works well.
I have an i7 with whatever 70 million cores, and a 560ti graphics card, running Win7 64bit.

It works! I had it at 1680 x 1050, it looked great, played smooth and oh its Startopia!! I only played for a short while tho, so can not vouch for bigger stations and more action.

I have the original discs but its a pain, this wasn't. Not claiming it will be perfect for everyone, but it was for me.
I have an i5 with a 560ti and win7 64bit

Running it at 1920x1080 res.

Played through the first 2 missions and it ran perfectly. I have no complaints :D
Played until mission 4 with 1920x1080 on an AMD Phenom II with a geforce 460 - no problems, bugs or anything else. Just buy it.
Game runs fine, however on exit it stops responding. I have Win7 64bit, i5 and 550ti.

Edit: Seems I only have this problem when I install the experimental 1.2 shadow patch.

I get the following error:

Working great. It works/runs better than when the game launched, in fact.

Just buy!
Maxed out all settings and now the game starts stuttering and flickering (artefacting?) after random periods of time, so far always when a room is being constructed. Don't think it's hardware (hope not!). I'll futz with the settings some more, but as the problem is so very inconsistent it's hard to find the cause. If anyone has experience with this issue I'd like to hear! W7/64.

OP: This is one of the greatest sim-type games ever done. Make with the buying!

Only problem I had was that Startopia failed to correctly identify/initialize my sound card on it's first run. So there was no sound. Deleting the ini after ensuring that unused sound devices were fully disabled, sorted out the problem.
FYI, the game hard freezes for me in Mission 2. Win 7 64 bit, NVIDIA, 6 gig ram, etc.
Geoferric: Just curious, is your CPU a dual core or a quad core? I've seen a lot of old games that for some reason run like crap on dual core, but are fine with quads. No idea why.

The game was sold for years on the Eidos online store, so I doubt there will be any problems. Unless GOG removed the mod support ;-).
