I've got a chicken for the parrot, but he complains that it's cold. I read a guide that suggested feeding it to the Suc-U-Bus and trying again, but if I do that I can't get a replacement.

You have to feed the current chicken to Suc-U-Bus to be able to get another chicken from any of the units where you got first one. You also need to change taste of chicken so that Suc-U-Bus won't eat the hot, fresh one but send it to the parrot's location so that it remains hot until you need to use it, and without spoiling too much, the napkin is essential for this operation.

Oh, I know what to do - I checked a guide because I was sure I was doing it wrong. But if I feed the Suc-U-Bus then try to get another, I get the "one chicken per customer" message.

well, I don't recall seeing that message, and I had to get 3-4 chickens before I got Suc-U-Bus to send it to right location, and another 2-3 fed to the parrot before I could entice it far enough to the left to grab the perch. I don't recall exactly now, but I think I went to different floors for each additional chicken I needed. Unfortunately I didn't copy out saves as I progressed through the game so I can't go back to try it again.
