Hi there! I just started the game to instantly stop it again, after I realized how completely useless the german localisation is. Sorry to say that my 12 year old niece could have done a better job.

What is worse: A review on Steam pointed this out allready and the reviewer said the devs promissed to improve the localisation... If I had to rely on the german localisation only I`d refund this game as "not playable".

We are working on it. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, translations are done by third party companies, we pay for it and hope for the best. We are aware that the german localization is bad and we are already fixing it. Please bear with us a little bit longer.

I hope we'll sort german translation soon. I understand German and when I saw it for the first time I thought it was translated by Google translate. And it probably way. Too bad we couldn't intervene before it was to late. Now we have some community members from Germany who took this into their hands. That will be better for sure.

Currently we do have community members form Germany, making it better. I don't know how much it costed but the same thing happened with russian translation. Anyway, it's not as easy as it sounds. We already had some community members in the past that were eager to help then gave up when they realized how much work that takes. There are literally hundreds of pages of texts. Let's not forget that this game has the story, branching dialogues, several different starts, tons of missions, descriptions, tutorials, geminipedia entries... It's much harder then it sounds.

We actually had only one community member that started and finished the job in a professional manner in a relatively short time. He translated whole SPG2 to french and it's still the official french translation for the game. We paid him in the end because he deserved it. But people usually want to help then realize it's really a huge amount of work. :-/

I allready worked on several translations.
The last one was a translation from english to german for a russian one-man-backyard-developer.

So, I think I know how much work it is or can be...
If a game is planned vom scratch to support modding and several languages, it is a nice and rewarding job.
If the developer does not know how to support mods and different languages - or if he does not care about it - its a hell of a nightmare...

There is so much motivation in the community, thats wasted because developer dont care about the community.
I realy hope this game is not such a case...

My deepest respect for your french translator.
I would not want to do such a job as one man show.
In my eyes, at least 3 people should do the job to ensure there is allways somebody to check the translation and one to assist.

But I still would say, the german translation is a fail, that would not have had to happen, if the community would have been asked, even if this might be more work for the developer.

And beside the translations, there would have been many small things, I would have mentioned to possibly do in a other way while developing.

To be honest, advertising a product being in a certain language at this state is kind of disrespect to the customer. We are not talking about there mistake and here mistake. The whole translation is just broken text which you have to read multiple times to understand what it actually MIGHT mean.

It was one of reasons I did not gift the game to my litle nephew, I do not care myself because I can simply play it in english (if performance issue get solved...)

There are erly access-games, that have less bugs...

So, please show a sign of activity and release at least a first patch.

Sorry what do you mean first update? We already released at least 10 updates since game release together with 3 DLCs. If you encounter a bug, we would appreciate it if you could send your log.txt and your game save to customersupport@starpointgemini.com so our programmers can check it out. I'm not sure which version you're playing but the latest version does not feel like pre beta version. There will always be some bugs, and we will continue to polish them, but that's a normal process even with AAA projects like Witcher 3. My Geralt still swims through air every now and then.

"first update" meant the first update after the release of the last addon.
I know, that games are that compley, they never will be free of bugs.
But the first version of the last addon was a little to buggy, I would say.

Mmh, I got the game refunded due to the terrible german translation, when it was released. The promise was given to work on that. Now, half a year later, apparently almost nothing happenend. I wanted to come back to the game, since it's on sale, now. Good thing, I read this first... it's a real pitty, but I don't expect the game to ever get a bearable translation. It's one thing I can accept to say "no, it's not coming". But to promise soon improvements and then not delivering, is not the best way to advertise the game...

@zzokalj: What I don't get is, when you paid for the german translation, you paid for a service, that was obviously poorly excecuted. So get your money back and pay someone with it, that is actually capable of what they promise?! Or was the contract poorly drafted so the money was just down the drain?

Well they did deliver something and that was paid by contract. Later, when we released it, our german players commented on poorly executed translation. Since we don't have a budget for doing the whole translation all over again but with the different company, we did what we could - Asked players to report all bad translations to customersupport@starpointgemini.com so we can improve it.

We also have several members of our community that are correcting parts of the translation and sending us those files which we then update in the patch.

Any news on the translation front? I bought it again with 66% discount. Now I don't mind that much, that the first real text you can read, the discription of the campaign, is still as useless as from day one... I don't know the time scale, but it's more than half a year later... did anything happen to the german translation?
