I might be missing something, but I'm just playing for the first time in almost 20 years and I'm seeing something very odd.
I just landed on my first planet and am collecting minerals. I don't think it matters but I'm on planet 1 at ~36x68.

When I landed there were 3 mineral deposits within view. Of course I collected them. Then I proceeded on several 80km trips away from the ship, then back. On two of the return trips the original 3 mineral deposits are back.

Is this intentional? I don't remember that from when I played way back when...

Thanks, Lance

I'll be honest, it's my first time playing this, but according to some lets plays I have seen, this happens, minerals come back for some odd reason despite you already scouring the area. I think it may be a bug in the Fractal Generator....
This is intentional. When Starflight says "Scanning new terrain," the game is actually generating the map. So yeah, after you go far enough away from an area to "forget" that region, it will repopulate (with fresh minerals and life forms) when you return.
