I'm in my fourth year of gameplay. I just noticed for the first time a "weed" in the form of wood has destroyed one of my iridium sprinklers. That's a pretty expensive item to have randomly destroyed. Any way to avoid this or comments in general? Hopefully in the future weeds won't destroy such things.

Edit: Perhaps there is a distinction; it appears the "weed" has spread from an adjacent stone "weed" that I knew about. It's possible weeds to not initially spawn under sprinklers/etc but can still spread to them. I still think that's a bit unfair. I like to keep the "stone" weeds because you can't place raw stone on the ground (I like the way they look so I leave them)

All weeds will spread, whether they're a little log or a rock or an actual weed. When they spread, they can spread to any adjacent tile and destroy anything other than buildings, including full chests of items or unique rarecrows that can't be reacquired.

Your only real solutions are to create buffers around important items using fences or floor tiles, clean up all the weeds on the first day of a new season, or to complete the community center and then spend 10 million gold on the Gold Clock.
Weeds can destroy chests?! :o

You don't think maybe their behavior should be adjusted?
Looking for the Weed Killer suggestion for my garden for the personal use.
