The exact same think is happening to me. I just installed it. Didn't work so i verifyed the files. They were fine. Uninstalled and reinstalled, still doesn't work. Tried running as an administrator that also didn't work, and ran the exe file from the folder still will not start. No errror message is given.

UPDATE:
Found another post with similar error. It suggested getting the XNA 4.0 libraries, as the developers stated in Steam forums. Download them on the microsoft website.

This fixed it for me

Did you install it through Galaxy?

When I installed mine through Galaxy it wouldn't launch and there was no error message. So I uninstalled the game and downloaded the installer from gog.com and installed it. Worked like a charm.

Did you read etoiles97 and XeidiDent's post?
Try to follow their advices.
You didn't intall any mods, did you? If you did, uninstall them and do a test.
Are you using the shortcut or the .exe file in the game directory to start the game? Try starting the game in a different way. It has helped people in some games.
Try the different compatibility modes and running as admin, too.
Good luck.

I had the same problem: game did not start from within Galaxy Client.
Using the standalone version, however, works fine.

This is where you download the XNA 4.0 library by the way.
Same problem here, it's starting to piss me off. Tried installing the XNA and that worked though!

how did you get xna to work? mine just will not install completely.

If the libraries won't install (and the download is verified as not corrupt) then it's possible that either there's a process that's blocking it, such as over-active antivirus software, or there's a problem with your Windows installation where something has become corrupted or gone missing which may be in need of repair.
stardew valley uses the xna framework by microsoft. there are a total of around 6 versions. the version is dependant on what the game was built on:-

1.0 refresh
2
3
3.1
4
4 refresh

if you install the redistributables from microsoft's website you should be fine. most games run on microsoft visual c++, but this is one of the few odd ones.

Did any of the suggested solutions work for you? (I don't have this problem I just think it would be nice if the original poster lets everyone who answered know if their suggestions helped.)
this did not work for me
My game wouldn't start either, on Win10 fresh formatted notebook.
I installed through galaxy, didn't work. Installed standalone, didn't work.
Software related, all checked (installed XNA 4.0, DirectX, Visual C++ library, .NET Framework, latest graphic driver, ...) and game still wouldn't work. Log didn't help me, it was empty and there was no error on load.

I spotted Jacklekins's suggestion in forum topic "Game not Starting? I HAVE SOLUTION!!!", which had no sense whatsoever and I am still laughing about it, cos it's silly but it made the game work.

Solution for me was plug in the headset, earplugs,... anything that your OS will acknowledge.

I am not that bad around installing software and understanding how they work.
I do not understand why that made the whole thing work, it's the most silly solution I've ever heard of of and tried and it worked. My guess is that combination of game and frameworks that game uses has conflict there (hopefully developers find out and sort it out for anyone that get the same issue).
If you tried everything trying this won't do you harm :'D.

P.S.
I have game working on Win7 PC from before and I have headset plugged in by default there, so problem never occurred there.
