I really liked the game!
This is a copy of some text I put in my review.
I'm hoping this causes some chagnes in the game.. nothing major, but they would improve it.
There are a few balance issues with this game:
1) cannons and thrusters normally go up in price massively while gaining more then double the damage or thrust.
However, the mk3 plasma cannon breaks this by being expensive, but not having enough damage increase to be worth using.
It is better atm to use three mk2 plasma cannons instead of two mk3's!
Please put the mk3 plasma cannon up to being more then double the mk2!
2) heat sinks don't do much unless you leave them next to open spaces.
This doens't make sense as the heatsink itself should be drawing off and emitting most of the heat above and below the ship, realistically speaking.
All but hte armoured one are also partial hexes, meaning they are annoying to use.
It would've been better if they were all full hexes, so they can all be used to attach other components!
Please make the heat sinks do a LOT more on their own and make all of them a full hex, with each being a different mk instead of only one of them being useful for connections!
3) fighters move WAAAAY to slow, even when fully upgraded.
Fully upgraded, they still move slower then the missiles, even without upgrading the missiles speed!
Combind with the fact that you need to wait for fighters to return, vs missiles auto generating and not needing to return, it's better just to use missiles!
Fixing these is easy... just make them go MUCH faster base speed and then have the top upgrades each increase that by 20% for a total speed equalling or exceeding missile speed.
While this is illogical, it's needed as wating for the fighters to 'come home' is annoying!
4) Please provide new game plus, where we keep all our research from the last playthrough, so we can experiment with fully upgraded weapons of all types!
Alternatively, you could make the tech reset usable infinite times, just like the character reset is!
Either way, there's no way to experience more then a couple secondary systems at full upgrade level in one playthrough and that kinda sucks....
