Once again, the new patch makes my mac game not function at all.
It says 'It's not possible to open the application Starbound'

Same here. Had to manually download the installer.

Aaaaaaaaaand my savegame is gone, along with everything I spent months building. Not starting over. Next game.

Okay, managed to restore my save files using Time Machine backup. But damn, guys. Uninstalling the game also deletes your save files? WTF!? Why are they even stored in the main game folder instead of in library/application support?

I also had to uninstall and reinstall to get it to work. However when I uninstalled it I was asked if I wanted to keep my saves. I clicked yes and then installed it fine and still had my saves. I use windows myself, so I don't know if the windows uninstaller is different from the mac version.

The Mac version of Galaxy absolutely did NOT ask me if I wanted to save my save files. However, most GOG games on Mac, manual installs or Galaxy installs, come as a single app package, not as a folder, and they store their save data in a different directory to keep them safe. For some reason, Starbound comes as a folder with the save data kept inside, so deleting the game takes the save data with it.
For any other Mac users having problems finding themselves here:

Go to the Starbound folder
Make a copy of the storage folder, put it somewhere safe
Uninstall Starbound
Reinstall Starbound
Replace new storage folder with old one

That should fix the problem and mean you still have your old saves. GoG specifically says it won't delete saves when uninstalling, but that's not the case, why you have to copy the storage folder yourself.
