Made this post over at the game's forums, and figured I should also post it here just in case.

I'm considering purchasing the game, and have some questions that I couldn't find sufficient answers for while searching. (Either vague answers, or answers from way back in beta well before release.)

Firstly, hardware.
My system is an i3 3130m with an HD4000 integrated chip and 4 gig ram (laptop).

I saw someone in a thread state that it runs ok on an HD4000, but if anyone out there has anything more specific than "ok" I'd like to hear it. How many fps, at what resolution, what settings, and whatnot are the details I'm after.
I don't mind lower FPS, around 20-30 would be fine. (Depending on the answer to the second question)

Which brings up the second thing. How well does it handle lower frames? In some games if it drops below 60 it runs in slow motion. Does this game still appear to be running full speed, or does it start to run slowmo?

Third: How good is the developer about updating the GOG version? If I get it, it will be from there, but not if the developer only releases GOG patches months after the steam patches.

Lastly, the system requirements on GOG mention broadband internet. Is this for the multiplayer part only, or what?

Thanks in advance for any responses.
Well. If you do not have a very powerful computer, Gl with the lagg.

Playing Terraria right now, I played and very much enjoyed starbound for the exploration, until the lagg came.

Running into invisible walls, Monsters either attacking you or dying after 5 or six seconds after attacking. Egads, no help for me so far.

I started terraria 1 and a half week ago. It has 10 times the content so far. Combat based instead of Exploration.

Well, I can't say Starbound is a complete waste so far, I enjoyed it until the lagg. maybe they will fix it so I can enjoy it again sooner or later. Most likely later. But hey, you won't really know if you will have any problem with any game until you play it. My computer runs some games meant way above it sometimes so you never know.

Yeah, Only need internet if you play multiplayer, or lan. Took me a bit to figure out to put server up.

If this is the computer you are talking about...

Yes. It should run. It should run preatty well too. Getting at least 30 frames most of the time should not be a problem with that CPU. That GPU scares me a bit though. How's your computer handle other games?

You can get a higher FPS by making the game window smaller.

The game does not ever go into slow-mo at lower frames.
Internet is not required unless multi-player is your thing. If you download the installer then you probably don't need internet to install again.

I have not owned this game for long, but the devs seem to be on top of updating everything. There has only been one small patch I had to get, but it came quick.

Anything I am missing, or any more questions?

Hmm, didn' tthink anyone would pay any mind to this topic after this long.

Unfortunately I purchased the game, and am going to chalk it up as a mulligan.
It ran ok for the first planet. but then I got to another one that actually had a settlement on it. Here it very very frequently started slowing down as it dealt with more NPCs running around.

It was like a had a cheat engine turned on, as enemies would move and shoot in slow motion, but i moved normally, making defeating them trivial.

So I went back to playing other games.

Thanks for the reply though.

Sorry I couldn't reply in time.
I have basically the same CPU, but I beat the game without making more than three houses. Slowdown was mostly rare.
This game seems to have too much content in all the ways that I don't care about, though. :P
