I've installed and re-installed this game so many times and just can't get it to work properly.

Problem: 5-15 seconds after launch, the screen goes blank and my curser comes up. Nothing further happens and I have to ctrl-alt-del to get out. Funny thing is, the first time I launch after install, it works fine. But, if I go out of the game, then try to come back in at a later date, the above problem happens.

I've done every single compatibility mode I can think of. The 640x480 option just turns the background white and the rotating circle curser appears. Every other option does the black screen. Can someone PLEASE help me so that I can play this awesome game and my $10 doesn't go to waste?

Windows 7 64bit Ultimate
i5-2500 CPU @ 3.30GHz
16gb RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760

Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried to contact somebody about it, but all I get is a frustrating run-around when I try to do so. I hit the "I can't find the solution" button, and it takes me to the forum. I hit "contact" and "tech issues" and it sends me to the forum. Apparently there IS no option to contact someone directly. So I guess I'll just sit here and hope somebody comes along to help.

So much for purchasing other GoG games if I can't get this sorted... :/

EDIT: One thing that DOES work is if I go to the game folder and launch via the XWING95.EXE or XWINGTIE.EXE. It's stable at that point, but comes up in what I would guess to be 256 colors. Lots of off-color pixels. So, to me, it sounds like a video issue. Maybe?


EDIT2: Finally got it working on my own. For some reason, the shortcut was running in Minimized mode instead of Normal Window. When I right-clicked on it and changed it, it seems to be stable now, although I have only gone through the initial screens, and haven't played a real mission yet.

When Games Starts
HIT ESC BUTTON to bring up OPTIONS Menu
Select Flight Options
Select top Button and Change to 640x480x16bit do not select use 3d.
Select Back to options.
Select OK to go to the game.
