So today 5 friends and myself tried to get on XWvTF to do a lan. Unfortunately, though we tried everything, we weren't able to connect. We had an 8-way switch as well as a 5 way switch, and we were all connected to it. Unfortunately, we were not able to connect to each other. We were using TCP/IP and we were typing in the IP of whoever the host was, which we checked via the command prompt.

When that didn't work, we all hooked up to the house network (by plugging in the 8 way switch to the home network) and opened some ports recommended of various help sites for this game. We opened the ports for the hosts computer, but nothing. Unfortunately, we were simply unable to get the game connected after several hours.

I've heard of Hamachi and Game Ranger, but those programs are filled to the brim with adware and spyware, and I see them recommended a lot on various help sites despite this. I don't want to use those programs, and I don't think they would even work, as all they do is create a VPN which simulates a LAN network, which we were all on anyways, and still couldn't connect.

So my question is, what have you all done to get X-wing VS Tie Fighter to work for on a LAN? Is there any way to have it happen that any of you know of? I appreciate you reading this post, and thanks in advance for the response!
