I'm trying to play X-Wing on my Macbook using a Dualshock 4 controller and a controller mapping application called Controllers that I found here: vividmachine.com/controllers

I'll be flying along fine when suddenly the right analog stick, which I've mapped to mouse movement, stops responding. I can still use the trackpad to steer the ship when this happens.

When I cmd+tab out of X-Wing, I can see that my controller is moving the mouse cursor just fine. If I cmd+tab back into X-Wing and then click on the track pad to bring focus back, my controller will work again for a minute or so before this happens again.

This only seems to happen when flying. I've tried to reproduce it on the screen where you choose which door to enter and I cannot. The cursor just zooms around the screen without issue.

I can't tell if it's the controller mapper or something with the game but this game is unplayable until I get this resolved.

Has anyone experienced this?

What controller mapper do you use (there don't seem to be many)?

Are there tweaks that I can apply somewhere that anyone knows of?

If anyone can help me recapture this bit of joy from my teenage years I will be so happy.

I use Joystick Mapper https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/joystick-mapper/id528183797?mt=12

It has an option that keeps the cursor from leaving the window.
