So excited about this. X-Wing creators are making a new spaceship game called Starfighter Inc. definitely a spiritual successor, but with modern graphics. It's missing the star wars license, but they're doing "real physics." Anybody else going to play this?

"hardcore team-based PvP multiplayer space shooter in the vein of X-Wing vs. Tie-Fighter"... sorry, but no thanks

Gimme a spiritual successor of X-Wing OR Tie Fighter (even with a bit of MP thrown in, why not, but non a MP only game) , and we can talk...
If i want "real physics" I'll go play orbiter.... What is it with so many developers who have it in their brains that people want "real physics". If such a public exists I'll eat my hat...we want Star Wars physics! Else it's not in the tradition of XvT and it's just another instance of buzzword name dropping. Well I don't buy it.

And I agree. Far, far too many "multiplayer" games coming out of the woodwork in place of coding real AI, and interesting mission design. No one can make a decent single player game anymore.
I miss the days when single player was everything, and multipayer was the icing on the cake. Oddly enough multiplayer was better then...

I guess I see the multiplayer as a reasonable place to start when you're kickstarting a project without a publisher footing the bill. Sure, I'd prefer a great single-player (or small team co-op) thoughtfully planned mission-based story, but I realize that's a very expensive endeavor if it's going to be any good.
