I have an xbox360 controller plugged in and detected by windows 8 but xwing says please check your joystick and make sure its plugged in. Any help gratefully received

I'm just shooting in the dark here as I have Windows 7, not 8.

But you could try to open the Windows gamecontrollerpanel and check if the X360 is the preferred device, alternatively unplug all unneeded gamecontrollers.
