Hello. I was able to download the latest version of the XWA installer, and after intering with the HexEditor/XWAhacker program (the latter of which actually resolved my problem), I was able to get widescreen running smoothly. However, I still cannot get the starfield to move properly. I was wondering how I can solve this last problem, as all the other threads I've read told me to remove ddraw.cfg and ddraw.dll, to which I have discovered that running the game once without these two files will basically cause X-Wing Alliance to render with graphical errors, and any further attempt to run the game again will result in an error. So for now I'm not even planning on touching those two files.

I did change my config file to refer to screenres1 and screenres2 as "3" (the same preset which I changed with xwhacker), and now the game runs on widescreen, but the starfields are still messed up. Is there any way to fix the starfield?

Windows 8.1 Pro
AMD XFX R7870 Core Edition 2GB
8GB RAM

JeremyaFr has updated Direct3D 11 via DDraw.dll, use these files and overwrite the old version: http://www.xwaupgrade.com/phpBB3008/viewtopic.php?p=148028#p148028
It should fix the problem for you. A quick report would be much appreciated.
i can confirm that version 1.3 of jeremy's ddraw fixed the problem with the distorted star fields. no issues for me anymore. but i'm playing vanilla xwa right now, without XWAU mods.
