I'm having a problem with the sliders on my x-45. Windows reads them as constant button inputs so I can't map my buttons to the commands. I know I used to be able to add -ignorejoy 9 -ignorejoy 10 -ignorejoy 11 etc to get past this but it doesn't seem to work this time. Does anyone know of any other tricks?

Create a profile with the Saitek software where you set the slider/rotary that you don't want as "bands" (with no input attached)

After you have done all the mappings in game, you might not need the profile anymore
And what would the solution be for the Saitek software being utterly terrible, and liking to bluescreen a windows 7 64-bit machine 75% of the time you hit "profile"?

Or simply having a cheaper usb joystick at hand. X series are good for true flightsims, but for games like Xwing, I feel more at ease with a Thrustmaster flight stick.
I am also running into the same issue with my Saitek X45 registering constant button-presses from two of the throttle switch settings, wreaking havoc with the (1998) in-game joystick setup since it is blocking any real joystick setup updates.

Due to the reported instability of the old Saitek profile software, I am wary of trying to run that. Is there any info on how X-Wing (1998) stores the joystick configuration so that it might be updated directly in a config file or registry setting, bypassing the in-game joystick setup?

In the installed game I noticed a joystick.txt but unless I missed something it looked like a simple mapping of ascii character codes to game controls (not actual button/axis setup).
