I have one T FLight HOTAS X and I really like how the throttle works, a shame that not all the keys are available to map for each button. But my worst problem is the deadzone, makes too hard to aim! Any suggestions on how to fix this? Already tried re calibrating in windows but to no avail.
Same problem. You can deal with it on the '98 version, but it makes the '93 unplayable. FYI I was able to map all of the keyboard functions except Hyperdrive and Map using some creative combinations, makes the game a snap to control, but difficult to fine-aim as you've pointed out. I've read online there are solutions, haven't found them yet, though. Will post if I do.
I have the same issue, but I think that's related to the hardware. The joystick seems to have a quite large deadzone, which can be fine tuned in most recent games so it becomes a non-issue, but on older games it's a bit more difficult or impossible.

Just out of curiosity, how did you manage to bind the throttle? Tie Fighter recognizes the throttle just fine to control speed/engine power, but X-Wing does not, at least for me.
