There are no consoles in these games.

Ok thanks. How do I enter the cheat code as simply typing the letters makes the keys simply follow their key bindings?
there are cheat codes?

It would help if you mentioned to which game your question applies.

X-wing and TIE Fighter both have cheat options in the in-flight menu -- standard binding would be ESC. In both games, you can modify whether or not your ship is vulnerable to damage and its weapons capacity. Be aware, though, that you won't get credit for completing your mission at that point.

I never got around to later X-wing games but I'd find it reasonable that single-player-only settings would be similar.
LOL, I thought this would be a thread about console hate.

Yeah good point, I meant X Wing Alliance. Various sites state that there are cheat codes but non of them say how to actually enter the blooming codes.

I remember Red5 being a cheat code in the original X-Wing game from 93 (yes I'm that old lol) but I can't remember how to enter it.

Hm.... My entry to X-Wing was, also, back in the day but I didn't come into it 'til the Collector's edition which I picked up in '95, about a year after release. So I never played the absolute original iteration of X-Wing. Though my understanding of it was that they didn't make significant structural changes to the engine -- mostly they cleaned up graphics a bit -- and really it was just a package of the original game with the expansions and the iMuse engine added for music. Just because that's what they list as the official changes, though, doesn't mean that something like cheat implementation wouldn't have been changed at that time. I can easily see they could tweak it so that cheats appear in the in-flight menu instead, which then trickled down to TIE Fighter. That's where my "at the time" experience with the X-Wing Series ends, though. TIE was the last X-Wing game I picked up during its original release.

The only game I recall using "RED5" as a cheat code was in Jedi Knight - Dark Forces 2, where it gave full ammo and all weapons. That's hardly encyclopedic though: while I played a good number of Lucas games when they were released, I hardly got them all. I easily could've missed something.
