I'm trying to play X-WING COLLECTOR'S CD on a Mac with a Wii U Pro Controller and it is impossible to get it to work.

It is connected to my Mac using wjoy, the pad is correctly detected inside the game as I'm prompted to calibrate it, but there is no response when I press a button, neither at the calibration screen nor inside the game.

Do you know what the problem could be? Do I need a joystick? Which one work on a Mac?

No need to get a real joystick if your controller works normally with other games. That said I'm not familiar with Mac's or how Dosbox (or whatever the DOS emulator is called on a Mac) works on a Mac, but you might want to look into the emulators joystick settings.
