Hi Guys,

I've looked into the the relevant threads but frankly don't find a definitive answer. Is it possible to enable 3d acceleration on T/F 1998 and X/W 1998 on Windows 10 with GeForce GTX 1050 (driver ver 445.87)? Using this X-Wing Alliance sort of a patch? Hex-editing executables?

Thanks for advice.

This still works for me on latest Win10 and NVidia GPU:

Extracted opowervr.txt and ddraw.cfg into games calalogue but I don't see ddraw.dll in the the xwa_ddraw_d3d11-master archive. The dll is already in the games catalogue. In the end games exit into desktop without any communication when I try to start any kind of mission. BTW, does it work on DirectX 12?

Check the ddraw.cfg file and see if there is some parameter messing with your PC, if joystick emulation is activated that may be it. IIRC there should be and option in the file to set the resolution to "desktop".
Directx12 should be backwards compatible with 11, that's the first time I hard it can be a problem with a dx11 wrapper.

The "master" archive is the source code; you don't need any of that unless you want to build it yourself.
You just have to follow the "releases" link from the main GitHub page to download the precompiled package

So, the ZIP file here: https://github.com/rdoeffinger/xwa_ddraw_d3d11/releases/latest

Thx Antaniserse! Works perfectly. After all those years, these games still looks good with 3d acceleration.
Where do I put the xwing zip file and do I actually need to unzip it?

yes, you need to unzip everything (or, if you want, just these the 2 files ddraw.cfg and ddraw.dll) in the main installation folder where, depending on which game you have, your XWING95.EXE/TIE95.EXE/XWINGTIE.EXE files are located

the same DLL works for the whole series
