If you're having trouble with the 30 FPS lock then you can try this makeshift patch

https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/506-star-wars-the-force-unleashed-12-fps-cap-fix/

Be fore warned forcing high framerates can cause weird fixes problems in some games. Also this fix set off my anti virus but I suspect it's a false positive.

This patch should be integrated into the GOG-download!

This is not official fix.
Officially both FU and FU2 were always capped to 30 fps.

I've asked gog to integrate patches into games before. I wish they would but one of the reasons is a lack of thorough testing. If the patch breaks the game then it's gog's fault

I know. But GOG integrated unofficial patches before. For example in Warlords Battlecry 3.
And the 30 fps cap is horrible enough to warrant an unofficial solution.

No it's not, there's aboslutley nothing horrible about 30 FPS.

If you're used to it, sure. But if you're used to higher framerates, the massive amount of input delay you get at 30 FPS becomes very hard to ignore. Feels like dragging your mouse through mud. It's less noticeable with a controller, but still an unnecessary handicap, especially on PC.

Well, it seems I'm the only one who can adjust to almost any FPS as long as it's consistent.
Don't get me wrong, 60 FPS is objectively better, but that doesn't mean 30 is "horrible".
60 FPS in this game is too wonky to work.
Anything above 30 FPS causes force grip to float things up automatically.
Even 40 FPS does it, just not very noticeably.

It'd be nice if it worked, but it really doesn't.

Well, it's incosistent between users. It does no such thing for me, for instance.
Easier solution (no need to replace EXE with 3rd party files):

Use an hex-editor like 'HxD' to edit 'SWTFU2.exe' and search for hexadecimal value "C78660 0100001E" (should be around 183B8, and change it as "C78660 0100003C".

This will fix the game to run at 60fps!

P.S.
Reported to work for SWTFU2, but it can be probably applied to SWTFU1 too...

do you know what the hexadecimal value would be in swtfu1
So how well does this "fix" work, i have seen higher framerates makes the game engine have issues with physics.

If you refer to the force grip problem lifting up objects/mechanical enemies/humanoids, this is an issue in the original games even at 30fps if you notice (is just much slower). For SWTFU2 adding "-VariableTimeSteps" launch parameter it can be fixed, but there is no fix for SWTFU (notice: humanoids force-grip is unaffacted).

that issue is still present at 30fps
