For some reason even if I edit the mouse and keyboard controls in launcher options the changes don't take place. Even the original default controls aren't the same as the ones shown in configuration (for example, E is forward ingame when it should be roll). I also can't map mouse buttons and left mouse button does nothing by default.

The launcher lets me map xbox 360 controller but none of the controls seem to work ingame. Also is there any way to invert mouse Y axis?

I can use mouse and keyboard, yet my joystick is not recognized. It's quite frustrating.

Yes, same for me, E to go forwards instead of roll. Thing is, the Naboo Starfighter just sits there hovering if you press nothing. I'm sure that isn't right.

Same for me with keyboard and mouse. I tried using my Wingman joystick but then the game wont start. I get the Lucas and Secret Level logos and routine but then the game does not start. Instead, it loads the Wingman set up program but regardless of what I do with it (Check settings, calibrate or simply close) the game wont start. I have to use the Windows Task Manager to close the game blank screen.

There's a potential fix (see http://www.gog.com/forum/star_wars_starfighter/major_control_problems_with_this_game ). Possible missing registry entries.

I got it working by removing all controllers (meaning I had to disable my virtual controller too) so that the only input devices were keyboard and mouse. Then I added in the registry entries that were missing (as in they were present in the demo version of the game but not GOG's version). Then I tweaked the resolution and NumJoysticks registry entries (I get no input detected when using 1280x1024). Finally I started the game from the Europa.exe in the "Game" subfolder of the installation to skip the launcher as any attempt to even open the settings screen stops the game from detecting my keyboard. Now the game plays as it is meant to. :)

OK, sounds good. However could you please tell me where to get the demo or , better yet, what entries are missing?

Thanks!
Think I'll wait for a patch. :D

The registry entries are present on the thread I linked to. Tom_Bol checked what I'd mentioned and confirmed it, and then uploaded both the 32-bit and 64-bit registry files (as a .jpg due to GOG forum limitations), but you can download them and rename the file extension.

Basically, there are a number of input settings (apparently joystick control settings) that are missing from the GOG installation. Once they were added the incorrect controls on the keyboard have been fixed, though it is still temperamental about whether or not the game chooses to recognise my keyboard when it starts up, and usually I have to boot it up a few times before it works. It's then fine though.

OK korell got it! After importing the new entries the game works like a charm (Mouse and keyboard, did not try the joystick but I don't really need it now) as long as I start it with Starfighter.exe, not the launcher.

Many thanks!!!
New GOG installer version 2.0.0.4 fixes this issue.
